2022 Honda Odyssey EX vs 2022 Honda Odyssey EX-L

Serving Elyria, OH

The Honda Odyssey is the minivan that many drivers have preferred for more than 25 years. Now that you have your eye on a new Odyssey, you are faced with the important decision of which trim level to purchase. For 2022, the Odyssey continues to be in its fifth generation and is offered in five trim levels. From bottom to top, these are the LX, the EX, the EX-L, the Touring and the Elite. A smart place to start your trim comparison is with a review of mid-level options like the EX and the EX-L.

Performance

The Odyssey is a powerful minivan that refuses to disappoint its drivers. The 3.5-liter V6 engine in all 2021 trim levels continues to be the only option available for the 2022 model year. This is a 280-horsepower gas engine that is paired with front-wheel drive and a 10-speed auto transmission. Shift by wire, paddle shifters, MacPherson front struts, power steering, front and rear stabilizer bars, anti-locking disc brakes, and other mechanical features are also found in all 2021 and 2022 trims.

Appearance

From front to rear, the 2022 Odyssey is a match to the 2021 version. The entire trim lineup boasts sliding doors and an aerodynamic look. This look is established by a sharply angled nose and stunning side accents, and tapered side windows. The modern look of the façade is elevated by triangular, bejeweled headlights integrated with the grille, stacked foglamps, and up to 19-inch wheels in some or all trims. By stepping up to the EX-L trim from the EX, you can take advantage of a programmable height feature on the power tailgate as well as a moonroof, acoustic glass, and a few other features.

Features

Between 2021 and 2022, the only difference Honda made to the Odyssey is the deletion of the HondaVac vacuum cleaner. The other features across all five trims are untouched. At the EX trim level, you can take advantage of features like second-row sunshades, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power-sliding rear doors, folding seats in the second and third rows, Honda Sensing® tech, a rear camera, a tri-zone auto climate control system, and other equipment. If you decide to drive the 2022 Odyssey EX-L, your minivan will have memory settings for the driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rear mirror, leather seats, USB ports in the first and second rows, and additional equipment.
